Not only will the uptake of driverless cars provide a convenient way of transportation it will also provide many environmental benefits such as the reduction in green house emissions (Keiichiro, 2017). The use of driverless cars will significantly reduce the amount of emissions released into the atmosphere as the networks inrouted in these cars enable them to automatically pick people up through optimal routing of their trips (Keiichiro, 2017). Additionally Keiichiro also states that vehicles spend 30% of the trip searching for a car park, with the introduction of driverless cars this could be significantly reduced as the cars will become capable to be able to park themselves or move onto their next passenger. By sharing vehicles, unnecessary trips will diminish playing an important role in the decrease of green house gas emissions.
